In 1991, the Arizona Ski Council (“ASC”) was formed to promote skiing and friendship among clubs, safety on the slopes and general education of the skiing community while experiencing the camaraderie of fellow skiers and adventurers.

ASC is a local chapter of the Far West Ski Association (“FWSA”) which covers 10 Western states, 11 regional councils and approximately 170 clubs with a combined membership of over 50,000.  FWSA is a non-profit organization and the largest ski association in the United States. Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming make up the western states.

As a result of ASC’s membership in the FWSA, individual club members who are part of ASC, enjoy substantial group discounts and numerous other advantages offered by and through FWSA.

ASC is also a charter member of the National Ski Council Federation (“NSCF”). The National Ski Council Federation is made up of 6 councils and ski clubs throughout the United States.  Ski councils provide year round activities to their members which includes not only ski activities but a variety of interclub trips.

Clubs who participate in ASC are the Phoenix Ski Club, Scottsdale Sea and Ski Club, Party Time Sports, the Arizona Outdoor Travel Club, Boeing Employee Adventure Club and the East Valley Ski Club.

Most clubs are year-round with a plethora of activities – biking, hiking, water skiing, etc.  Look for a club in your area and join!  Links to the club website are provided for further information regarding that club.  As an ASC club member, you can participate in all aspects of ASC, NSCF and FWSA ski trips and events.  This includes ski trips, international trips and participation in the racing program.  For individual member benefits, please access the FWSA or NSCF websites.

ASC’s big event this year is the FWSA 2010 Ski Week in Keystone, Colorado!  Click here to see the attached flyer with all the event activities which includes races, mountain picnic, pub crawl, lift tickets to Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek and Arapahoe Basin.  What more could you want!  Sign up form here. Contact Lee Lambie at lee.lambie@cox.net or 602-468-2429 or any ASC representative.

Future activities will include a golfing fundraiser with details to follow.
